I’m delighted to be here’ – Jason McCarthy on becoming a Millwall player

Millwall have signed Jason McCarthy from Wycombe Wanderers.

He joins Millwall on a long term contract and becomes Millwall’s ninth summer signing. He is a versatile defender who can play at right back or centre back. He adds depth to a defence which and provides competition for Mahlon Romeo and right back.

McCarthy has experience of playing at The Den, he was in the Barnsley side that beat The Lions 3-1 in August 2017 where current Lion Tom Bradshaw scored twice.

He left Barnsley and joined Wycombe last summer and made 44 appearances and scored twice in League One last season.

McCarthy was at Millwall’s training ground yesterday to complete the move and spoke to the clubs official website. “I’m absolutely delighted to be here now, it was quite long-winded but I’m glad to get the deal done.

“I’m definitely excited to be another addition to a squad at Millwall where it seems something really good is building – I’ve kept a close eye on the other signings being made here.

“I first heard of interest from Millwall a couple of years back, and it resurfaced this summer – I’ve always had my eye on this club as one which really suits me, both as a person and as a player. I’m a hard-working player, and I know that the club’s core value is all on that. I can’t wait to get down to business, and show the fans and teammates what I’m about. Millwall is an iconic club, and I can’t wait to get started.”
