Nottingham Forest set to beat Birmingham City in chase for Wolves striker – medical imminent

According to a report from the Nottingham Post, Nottingham Forest are closing in on a deal to sign striker Rafa Mir from Premier League side Wolves.

We reported here on The72 yesterday (Sunday) that Championship pair Nottingham Forest and Birmingham City were interested in Wolves striker Rafa Mir. Now, it has been reported that Forest are set to win the race for the Spanish striker.

The Nottingham Post writes that Mir is set to undergo a medical with Nottingham Forest within the next 24 hours. Manager Sabri Lamouchi is looking to bring in a number of players before the end of the summer transfer window while also offloading some of the deadwood in his squad.

With the end of the window just under two weeks away, Lamouchi is keen to add a striker, midfielder and a defender, and he looks set to add the striker imminently.

Mir, 22, joined Wolves in back in January 2018 from Spanish side Valencia and looks set to make a move away from Molineux this summer. The Spaniard has played four times for the Wolves senior team and spent last season on loan with UD Las Palmas, scoring seven goals and providing one assist in 30 appearances.

He came through the youth academy with Valencia and scored a thoroughly impressive 25 goals in 59 games for the club’s second team before leaving for Wolves. He played eight times for the senior side at Valencia in total. Mir has represented Spain 10 times at Under-21 level, scoring five goals in the process.

With a medical set to take place within the next 24 hours, it seems only a matter of time until Mir’s move to the City Ground is confirmed.
