It has been widely reported over the course of the summer transfer window that Queens Park Rangers are keen to bring Stoke City man Geoff Cameron back to the club on a permanent basis, with his days in a Potters shirt numbered.
Geoff Cameron has been vocal about wanting to make a return to The Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium as well, stating back in March that he would like to join QPR on a permanent basis. Now, it seems that all parties will be left with smiles on their faces.
West London Sport has reported that Cameron will have a medical ahead of a move today (Thursday), allowing him to complete a permanent move to Mark Warburton’s side from Stoke City. The American was one of several first-team players to be left behind from Stoke’s pre-season trip, speeding up the process of his departure.
Despite having one year remaining on his contract with Stoke City, the club will allow him to join the R’s on a free transfer, with a compensation package being agreed between the appropriate parties before a move is confirmed.
Cameron spent last season on loan with Queens Park Rangers and was a popular figure amongst fans and players. The 34-year-old – who can play across the backline as well as in defensive midfield – featured 19 times for the club, missing a large chunk of the campaign through an ankle injury, but still managed to make a good impression on fans and teammates at the club.
With a medical scheduled, it seems a matter of time before Cameron is confirmed as a Queens Park Rangers player.
