Nottingham Forest striker on verge of St Johnstone loan move

Nottingham Forest striker Jason Cummings is set to join St Johnstone on loan.

The 23-year-old is closing in on a move back to Scotland, according to a report by Nottinghamshire Live.

Cummings has fallen out-of-favour at the City Ground and will leave them again this season.

He joined Forest in 2017 from Hibernian for an undisclosed fee but has played just 14 times for the Reds in the Championship.

Cummings played for Hutchinson Vale and Hearts as a youngster before moving to Hibernian in 2014. He went onto play over 100 games for the Edinburgh side and was prolific for them in their three seasons in the Scottish Championship, scoring over 20 goals in all competitions for three campaigns running.

There was a lot of excitement amongst Forest fans when they swooped to sign him two years ago but he has failed to live up to his early hype.

The Reds loaned him back out to Scotland to Rangers in January 2018 and he scored six times in 18 appearances for the Ibrox club.

Cummings then spent the first half of last season in League One with Peterborough United and bagged six times for them before spending the rest of the campaign in the same division with Luton Town.

He is now set for a return to the Scottish Premiership with St Johnstone and will be keen on hitting the ground running for his new side.
