Leeds United goalkeeper attracting La Liga attention

A report from Spanish newspaper Marca has revealed that Sevilla’s Director of Football Monchi has identified Leeds United goalkeeper Kiko Casilla as a transfer target.

It has been speculated over the course of the summer transfer window that Leeds United could be willing to sell both Kiko Casilla and Bailey Peacock-Farrell this summer, with the latter said to be attracting interest from Premier League side Burnley.

Now, it has been claimed by Spanish outlet Marca that Spaniard Kiko Casilla is attracting interest from back in his home country, with Europa League side Sevilla said to be plotting a move for the ‘keeper. The 32-year-old only made the move from Real Madrid to Elland Road in January, but with Sevilla keen to bring in another goalkeeper, they could look to make a move for the Spanish player.

Casilla played 19 times for Leeds United over the course of the second half of the season, missing just one game through suspension. He kept six clean sheets along the way as the Whites earned a place in the Championship play-offs, where they were defeated by Derby County.

Given that speculation surrounding his future has yet to develop into anything more than speculation, it would be surprising to see Casilla make a move away from Leeds United this summer. He still has four years left on his contract with the club and has been heavily involved in the side’s pre-season preparations, with him seemingly remaining as Marcelo Bielsa’s preferred choice for a starting spot over Peacock-Farrell.
