Boost for Hull City with 22-year-old defender booked in for medical

Cork City defender Sean McLoughlin will undergo a medical with Hull City tomorrow.

The Tigers have agreed a fee for the 22-year-old and he is expected to become their fifth signing of the summer, according to a report by Hull Live.

The Yorkshire side have so far managed to bring in goalkeeper Matt Ingram from QPR, defender Ryan Tafazolli on a free transfer, winger Josh Bowler on loan from Everton and striker Tom Eaves from Gillingham.

Their new boss Grant McCann has been a long-term admirer of centre-back McLoughlin and tried to sign him for Doncaster Rovers during the last January transfer window.

He is now set to bring him to the KCOM Stadium to add more options and depth to his defensive department.

Cork beat off a lot of competition, including some from English clubs, to land McLoughlin in the summer of 2017 and he has been a key player for them ever since.

Prior to joining Cork, McLoughlin had a hugely successful spell with University College Cork (UCC) where he helped them win both the Munster Senior League and Collingwood Cup as a youngster.

He will be a shrewd signing for Hull assuming his medical goes smoothly. He is young and has a bright future ahead of him in the game.

The Tigers start their Championship season on Saturday 3rd August away to Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium.
