West Brom closing in on the signing of QPR full back

West Bromwich Albion are closing in on the signing of Queens Park Rangers full back Darnell Furlong according to the Express & Star.

The Baggies will pay in the region of £1.5million for the right back who can also play as a centre back as boss Slaven Bilic looks to make further additions to his back line ahead of the upcoming Championship season.

In their friendly against Scunthorpe, youngster Nathan Ferguson was deployed at right back with Allan Nyom seemingly on his way Spanish side Getafe.

Right back is certainly a position that needs strengthening within the Baggies’ ranks and Furlong has impressed whilst at QPR and at £1.5million could be a bargain addition to the side.

There is speculation still remaining regarding the future of Mason Holgate who was on loan at the Hawthorns last season and became a firm fans’ favourite with his impressive performances and the passion he showed for the club. He has returned to parent club Everton with manager Marco Silva currently deciding if Holgate is part of his plans for next season.

Should they complete the capture of Furlong this would not cool their interest in Holgate. Furlong has made over 60 appearances for QPR and had loan spells with Northampton, Cambridge United and Swindon Town.

Furlong is the son of former QPR striker Paul Furlong, and played 20 times in the Championship for Rangers last season.

Slaven Bilic has recognised the need for reinforcements for next season and the Midlands side are now making significant inroads in the transfer window following the departure of Salomon Rondon for £16.5million.

Should West Brom continue to make further quality signings they are surely going to be a force to be reckoned with next season.
