QPR on verge of signing Chelsea full-back on season-long loan

QPR are closing in on the signing of Chelsea right-back Dujon Sterling on loan.

The Hoops have a replacement for West Brom-bound Darnell Furlong already lined up, according to a report by the Independent.

Sterling, who is 19 years-old, is set to join the London side on a season-long loan to gain some more first team experience.

Mark Warburton has been a busy man since taking charge of QPR earlier this summer. The former Brentford and Rangers boss has brought in numerous new signings including Liam Kelly, Lee Wallace and Yoann Barbet.

He is now looking to add the finishing touches to his squad before the Championship season starts in just under two weeks time.

Sterling will add more depth and options to QPR’s defensive options and looks to be a bright young talent. He impressed in the last campaign on loan in League One with Coventry City and made 40 appearances for the Sky Blues.

The London-born defender joined Chelsea in 2007 and has risen up through the youth ranks at Stamford Bridge. He was a key player for the Blues’ youth sides and won the FA Youth Cup and Youth Leagues both on two occasions. Sterling has also represented England at levels U16 to U20.

He is now set to build on the experience he gained at Coventry last term and will be eager to impress at QPR.
