QPR bid for Irish international “nowhere near the level” says Ipswich boss.

Ipswich Town manager Paul Lambert has described QPR’s reported £250,000 bid for Alan Judge as “absolutely nowhere near the level”, according to the IpswichStar.

IpswichStar had reported last week that QPR had seen their £250,000 bid for the Irish playmaker knocked back, and Paul Lambert has today insisted that The Hoops’ valuation is nowhere near anything they would consider accepting for Judge.

Despite relegation to League One, Lambert had insisted earlier on this summer that players would not be allowed to leave the club on the cheap, and is appearing to stand by this statement with regards to Alan Judge, telling IpswichStar “Just because we’re in League One we’re not going to let him walk out the door. No chance.”.

“Everybody has a value, absolutely, but there has to be some realism with it. We can’t just turn round and say ‘there you go’.”

The 30-year-old arrived at Portman Road back in January on an initial 6-month contract with the option of a further year. He joined from then fellow Championship side Brentford, where his first-team opportunities had been hindered by injury, which included multiple breaks in his left leg in April of 2016 which cut his exceptional season to a premature end.

QPR’s interest in the midfielder likely stems from the appointment of former Rangers and Nottingham Forest boss Mark Warburton, who worked with Judge at Brentford where he excelled as an attacking playmaker at Championship level.

Judge is yet to feature of Ipswich in pre-season as he is still in the recovery process of a fractured wrist injury suffered whilst playing for the Republic of Ireland back in June, but is understood to be making good progress with the playmaker partaking in first-team training which could convince QPR to maintain their interest as he continues to recuperate.
