Brentford ready to make bid for £1m rated Blackpool defender

According to journalist Alan Nixon, Brentford are continuing their efforts to bring in highly rated Blackpool defender Marc Bola.

The left-back has been subject to interest from Luton Town this summer as well as Brentford, with the Bees keen to bring him to Griffin Park in a deal which could reach up to £1 million.

Thomas Frank’s side has already spent around £18 million on five signings this summer, including the addition on Pontus Jansson from Leeds Unites, as he looks to set his side up for a promotion push in the upcoming season.

Despite his young age, the 21-year-old already has over 50 appearances in League One, which include two goals and three assists.

Bola joined Blackpool for a reported fee of just 100k in July 2018, with his performances for the Seasiders potentially earning him a move to the second tier.

He started his career coming through the Arsenal youth academy, playing five times for the Under-18’s and 30 times for the Under-23’s as well as 16 appearances for their UEFA Youth League side.

He then went on to gain experience on loan with Notts County and Bristol Rovers before signing for Blackpool, where he has really started to make a name for himself.

If Brentford make the right offer before the end of the window it would be likely that Bola will end up at Griffin Park next season, whilst Simon Grayson would be hopeful of using the cash to bring in a replacement ahead of the new season. With that new season around three weeks away, things could hot up pretty soon with this one.
