West Brom striker completes move to China

West Bromwich Albion striker Salomon Rondon has today completed his move to Dalian Yifang as confirmed on their official website.

Rondon has moved to the Chinese Super League side to once again join up with Rafael Benitez following their time together at Newcastle United last season.

Rondon arrived at The Hawthorns in the summer of 2015 and made 120 appearances for the Baggies, scoring 28 goals.

He never fully won over some of the Baggies faithful in terms of his goal return however during his time at West Brom he gave his all for the club.

The 29-year-old has made the move Dalian Yifang for an undisclosed fee which is believed to be close to around £16.5milion that is in his release clause.

Rondon left the Baggies on loan to join Newcastle following their relegation from the Premier League at the end of the 2017/18 campaign where he quickly became a fan’s favourite during his time on Tyneside.

Under Benitez he scored 11 goals in 33 appearances for the Magpies but the Spaniard ultimately left his role as manager last month due to disagreements over the club’s future.

Rondon will now link up with him again as the pair enjoyed a fruitful relationship whilst at Newcastle with Benitez seemingly being able to get the best out of the Venezuelan international.

Although its comes as somewhat of a surprise to see Rondon making the move to China it is clear that Benitez has played a huge part in the move. The striker has many great attributes that made him a good Premier League striker and England’s loss will now be China’s gain.
