QPR and Charlton Athletic linked with move for 22-year-old free agent

According to French news outlet Foot Mercato, Championship pair Charlton Athletic and Queens Park Rangers are among the sides interested in Spanish defender Alberto Redondo, who is available on a free transfer after his departure from Getafe CF.

Former Getafe CF man Alberto Redondo is reportedly attracting the attention of Championship sides Charlton Athletic and Queens Park Rangers, reports from France have claimed.

Alberto Redondo, 22, is available on a free transfer this summer, having left Getafe CF upon the expiry of his contract. The La Liga side made their efforts to try and keep Redondo at the club ahead of the new season, but the Spaniard turned down Getafe’s approach as he is keen to go somewhere he will be given more game-time and somewhere he is shown more faith.

It is unsurprising to see Redondo turning down Getafe’s approaches for him to put pen to paper on a new deal, given the fact that he has played just once for the club’s senior team since coming through the academy. The left-back was left to play most of his football for the club in the b-team, featuring in defensive midfield on occasion as well.

It is said that French sides Saint-Ettiene and RC Lens were interested in bringing Redondo in ahead of the new season, but the report from Foot Mercato goes on to add that it is likely that the defender will be playing his football in England next season, with Charlton Athletic and Queens Park Rangers ready to offer him the chance to do so.
