Nottingham Forest yet to rule out return move for Spanish defender

According to a report from Spanish news outlet El Mundo, Nottingham Forest have not yet ruled out a move for RCD Mallorca’s Spanish defender Antonio Raillo, who reportedly turned down a move to Forest in the January transfer window.

We reported here on The72 back in February that RCD Mallorca defender Antonio Raillo claimed that he turned down the chance to make the move to England with Championship outfit Nottingham Forest in the January transfer window.

And now, it has been claimed that Nottingham Forest have not ruled out the possibility of moving to try and sign the 27-year-old ahead of the new Championship season.

Raillo’s contract with RCD Mallorca still has two years remaining, but his release clause in the contract is set at just €4 million, leaving him susceptible from offers elsewhere. And, having confirmed their promotion to the top tier, the club are determined to keep him at the club beyond the end of this summer.

The 27-year-old has been with Real Mallorca since June 2016, joining from Espanyol – where he only played six times for the first team, featuring mainly for their B team from 2013 to 2015 before being loaned out to Ponferradina for the second half of the 2015/16 campaign in the Segunda Division B – Group 1.

In his time with Real Mallorca, Raillo has played 104 times over the course of three seasons, becoming a mainstay in their starting eleven at centre-back. He played 39 games for the club in the La Liga 2 over the course of last season, as the club won promotion from La Liga 2 to the La Liga
