Mansfield Town receive boost as star returns from injury

Mansfield Town have received a boost in the form of Hayden White’s return from injury, as reported by the Mansfield & Ashfield Chad.

The League Two side face Blackburn Rovers in a pre-season friendly this evening, a game in which the returning White could feature after a lengthy lay-off.

The 24-year-old suffered a broken ankle in January, ruling him out for the remainder of the 2018/19 campaign as the Stags missed out on promotion to League One. However, Assistant Manager Lee Glover has confirmed that the former Bolton Wanderers man is likely to play against Championship opposition tonight:

“I think he will play some part.

“He’s come through training and doesn’t seem to have any ill effects. We will be very pleased to see him back on the pitch.

“He is a good player in this league and the one above. I worked with him at Peterborough. You want all your good players available for selection.”

White could line-up alongside two trialists, who are believed to be Coventry City outcast Jak Hickman and former Carlisle United playmaker Arthur Gnahoua. Glover offered praise for the pair when claiming that both will be involved in the friendly:

“I think both will be involved and play some part in the game. They both did well at Alfreton.”

John Dempster’s side will be keen to reach the third tier next season, and the process of moulding the squad into one capable of achieving promotion is well underway. Additions have included former West Ham United striker Nicky Maynard and ex-Portsmouth utility man Dion Donohue.
