West Brom striker on his way to China within the next ’24 to 48 hours’

West Bromwich Albion striker Salomon Rondon appears to be heading to China according to Sky Sports News.

Rondon has been the subject of much transfer speculation this summer with many Premier League and overseas clubs interested in the 29-year-old.

A deal has now been agreed between West Brom and Chinese Super League team Dalian Yifang for whom Rafa Benitez is now manager following the end of his contract with Newcastle United.

Rondon spent last season on loan on Tyneside working under Benitez and it is thought that the Venezuelan is now keen to link up with the Spaniard once more.

Such is the progress of the move, a deal could be wrapped up within the next 24 to 48 hours. The striker’s release clause is worth £16.5million and it is believed that the Chinese club have met this.

Fenerbahce, West Ham and Wolves have all been linked with the target man but it seems as though China will be his destination with the other interested clubs yet to have met the Baggies’ valuation.

Rondon was keen on a move back to Newcastle who have also been linked with returning for him but with Benitez’s departure, their search for a new manager has put paid to any potential new signings in the immediate future.

Dalian Yifang finished 11th in the Chinese Super League last season but with the Spaniard now at the helm and with the potential capture of Rondon they will be looking to improve on that for the next campaign.

What is certain is that Rondon certainly won’t be an Albion player by the time the transfer window closes with the club’s hierarchy confirming they will be looking to recoup a transfer fee for him with his contract expiring next summer.
