Leeds United pre-season tour set to be cut short?

Leeds United’s pre-season tour could be set for an early finish, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

The Yorkshire club have jetted out to Australia for a pre-season tour that will see them first face Premier League giants Manchester United and then take on A-League side Western Sydney Wanderers.

The squad selection for the tour came as welcome news to Leeds fans following the disappointing departures of Jack Clarke and Pontus Jansson, with Kalvin Phillips included in the travelling squad despite reports heavily linking him to a big money move to Premier League side Spurs.

Hadi Sacko and Pawel Cibicki, who are expected to complete moves to Turkey and Sweden respectively in the immediate future, were both left out of the squad for the tour.

However, according to a tweet from journalist Alan Nixon, the tour could end up being cut short. According to Nixon, Bielsa is ‘not a huge fan of preseason tours’ and ‘could end up returning after one match to get on with work back home’.

The Whites have already played two friendlies back in England since starting their pre-season campaign, first beating non-league Guiseley 2-1 away from home thanks to goals from new signing Helder Costa and youngster Mateusz Bogusz before demolishing York in a 5-0 away win.

Leeds will still fulfil their money-spinning fixture against Manchester United out in Australia but is looking more and more likely that Marcelo Bielsa’s men will come home early from their trip and continue pre-season preparations back in England ahead of an exciting campaign.
