Brentford in possible £10m windfall news if ex-player transfer goes through

According to Sun reporter Alan Nixon on Twitter (below), Brentford could soon be buzzing if the expected sale of former player James Tarkowski goes ahead.

The Burnley defender, who has two England caps, has three years left on his current deal at Turf Moor but the Manchester-born 26-year-old is already gathering a level of interest from the likes of Wolves and Leicester City.

For Wolves, it will be a case of building of a more than encouraging first season back in the Premier League after a while away from the top-tier should they follow up stated interest in the former Oldham Athletic youngster.

However, if Leicester City does come in, as Nixon has postulated in earlier news, then it will be likely to cover the sale of Harry Maguire, with Maguire attracting interest from Manchester United.

According to Nixon’s earlier article for The Sun’s online portal, Burnley is not going to be letting Tarkowski go cheaply, instead looking for a massive return on the £3.6million they paid Brentford for him. He also has three years left on his current deal, and this is reflected in the whopping £40million valuation they have placed on his head.

That valuation, that £40million asking price demanded by Burnley, will be good news indeed for Brentford – as the following from Nixon’s Twitter feed shows:

Brentford could be in for a late splurge in the summer transfer window should any Tarkowski deal come off. That £10million, from an assumed 25%-or-so sell-on fee, will go a long way and could even go further should French striker Neal Maupay leave the club amongst concerted interest from the likes of Aston Villa.
