Leeds United midfielder ‘interest’ – does Roofe know something

According to a number of sources, including Scotland’s Daily Record, Leeds United are in a bit of a tussle with treble Treble winners Celtic for Brentford’s talented midfielder Romaine Sawyers.

The Daily Record says that Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa “is looking to strengthen his engine room” and that the Argentinian coaching legend is looking to bring Sawyers north.

Many Leeds United fans see the massive positives that Sawyers would bring to a side playing Bielsa’s style of football. The Whites are a side who are pretty well stocked in the centre of the park, the midfield engine room.

However, a cultured passer of the ball, one able to provide quick transitions to attack, like Sawyers is would be an addition to the Leeds United side that many feel shouldn’t be bypassed.  This is especially so if he could be gotten for his reported £2.5million valuation.

As with anything Leeds United, it is a whiff of interest that has gotten the Whites terrace faithful commenting across social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter. That has been the case and there’s been much discussion about the merits that Sawyers would bring to Elland Road and how he’d fit into the BielsaBall system of play.

The Brentford midfielder is into the final year of his contract at Griffin Park, something of a bargaining leverage that the Whites could apply. last season the Birmingham-born 27-year-old featured in 42 games for the Bees, providing seven assists and racking up nine yellow cards.

There’s been no official word yet, but something ‘unofficial’ on Instagram has created more than a ripple of interest on the aforementioned social media platforms.

Underneath the post by lufcfanzone appears a very simple ‘fire’ emoji from Kemar Roofe’s blue-tick verified Instagram account. That very simple occurrence is enough to make some Whites fans get more than excited about a potential arrival.

This, coupled with the fact that Sawyers allegedly wasn’t present at Brentford training yesterday is enough justification for some Leeds United fans to begin to dust off their ‘Announce Player’ social media posts.
