Leeds United goalkeeper being targeted by Premier League outfit

Leeds United goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell is being targeted by Burnley which could be a boost to Aston Villa according to The Mirror.

Peacock-Farrell was the number one goalkeeper at Elland Road until January when Kiko Casilla replaced him between the sticks and it is believed that the 22-year-old is reluctant to spend another season as an understudy with the Whites.

The Northern Irishman is wanted by Burnley boss Sean Dyche however he may find himself once again as the second choice goalkeeper to Nick Pope.

Burnley are looking at a goalkeeping reshuffle this transfer window as they look to move on Joe Hart as well as constant speculation surrounding Tom Heaton’s future could see him leave this summer.

This would leave their current number two Pope as their solitary senior goalkeeper and he would be expected to become their new number one should Heaton leave.

Should the Lancashire club press ahead in their pursuit of Peacock-Farrell this could see Aston Villa handed a boost in their quest to sign Heaton.

The Midlands side saw a bid of around £7million rejected by Burnley but Heaton could be allowed to leave should Burnley’s valuation be met.

The 33-year-old has been at Burnley since 2013, where he has made 200 appearances and helped the club win promotion from the Championship twice, first in 2013-2014 and then again in 2015-2016. However, both the club and the player now appear to feel the time has come for both parties to move on.

Peacock-Farrell departing Leeds would also free up funds on their wage bill as they are looking to make changes to their squad for the upcoming Championship campaign.
