West Brom striker snapped up and on his way – confirmed deal

Youngsters, more specifically English youngsters, seem to be le mot juste in the current transfer market in that interested sides cannot get enough of them. That continues with youngster Louie Barry.

Barry has just been snapped up by none other than Barcelona, as confirmed by the following report from ESPN. This capture of the explosive youngster comes after a medical in Paris on Thursday when it looked like he would sign for Paris Saint-Germain.

However, Barcelona stepped in and offered an all-round football package that was more appealing. Now, the prolific England youngster has signed a long-term deal with the Catalan giants that, whilst it won’t be as lucrative as the one offered by PSG, it is a more comprehensive sporting plan.

ESPN’s article says that “Barca are excited by how much room for growth there is with Barry” who is an “out-and-out goal scorer for England” – testimony for this is his 19 goals in 18 youth level games for his country.

He’d been at West brom since the tender age of six years old, and the Baggies made a concerted effort to keep him. The Hawthorns outfit offered a one tear scholarship deal, to be followed by a two-year professional contract and promises of a fast-track to the first-team. However, he turned this down in favour of a move away from the club.

His move to the Catalan capital will see Barry live at the famed La Masia academy and will be turning out for Barcelona’s Under-19s in the season to come.
