Portsmouth miss out on former AFC Bournemouth and Hull City winger

Portsmouth have missed out on a move for winger Marc Pugh.

The 32-year-old is expected to move to a Championship club, according to journalist Andrew Moon on Twitter.

Pugh is a free agent after leaving Premier League side AFC Bournemouth at the end of the season. He spent the latter half of the last campaign on loan in the second tier with Hull City and made 14 appearances for the Tigers, chipping in with three goals.

Portsmouth have been linked with a move for the experienced wide man and were hoping to keep him on the south coast. However, it appears he will not be moving to Fratton Park this summer.

Pugh was a real fans’ favourite at Bournemouth and played 312 games for the Cherries, scoring 56 goals. He played a huge part in their rise up through the divisions and into the Premier League.

Before his move there in 2010, Pugh had spells at Burnley, Kidderminster Harriers, Bury, Shrewsbury Town, Luton Town and Hereford United.

He fell down the pecking order at Eddie Howe’s side last season, hence why they let him go to Hull on loan. He impressed with the Tigers though but it is unlikely he will return to the KCOM Stadium on a permanent basis after Nigel Adkins’ departure.

There is no doubt Pugh is good enough to play in the Championship and will be a good signing for someone. Where will he end up?
