According to Goal France, Championship side West Brom have enquired about making a possible move for Senegalese winger Opa Nguette, who is available on a free transfer after leaving newly promoted FC Metz.
French side FC Metz won promotion to the Ligue 1 last season, winning the second division title. However, winger Opa Nguette will not be joining them in the top flight, leaving the club upon the expiry of his contract.
Now, a number of clubs from Belgium are reportedly eyeing up a bargain move for Nguette, alongside Slaven Bilic’s West Brom. Belgian Jupiler Pro League sides Club Brugge and Genk have made offers to try and sign the winger this summer.
Belgian outfit Royal Antwerp and French club FC Nantes have also reportedly made moves to try and sign the 24-year-old this summer, but they have reportedly seen their approaches knocked back. West Brom are the latest to register interest in Nguette, contacting his representatives to ask if he would be interested in making a move to the Championship with the Baggies.
Nguette has spent his entire career to date playing in France and is said to be ready for a new challenge. He started his career in the youth academy at Valenciennes FC, breaking into the senior game with the club. Nguette played 71 times for Valenciennes, scoring nine goals along the way before joining FC Metz in 2016.
Since joining Metz, the winger has played 93 times for the club, scoring 10 goals and assisting seven times. He scored seven and provided three assists in a successful 2018/19 campaign, but looks highly unlikely to be adding to that total.
