Sheffield United confirm signing of QPR midfielder

Sheffield United have today confirmed the signing of QPR midfielder Luke Freeman as reported on their official website.

Freeman becomes Chris Wilder’s first signing of the summer as they look to add as many key additions as possible upon their return to the Premier League.

The Blades have brought in Freeman on a three-year-deal for an undisclosed fee but believed to be in the region of around £4million.

The midfielder was one of the most impressive performers in the Championship last season and he scored eight goals in 48 appearances for the R’s. The 27-year-old has worked his way through the English leagues and is now set to make his mark in the top flight.

Having previously been rejected by Charlton and had spells with Yeovil and Stevenage, Freeman now has the chance to prove his potential on the biggest stage.

Blades manager Chris Wilder has expressed his delight at having finally wrapped up a deal for the playmaker. “It has been well-documented that a lot of clubs have looked at him. The obvious thing is we have got that Premier League carrot.”

“He is enthusiastic, dynamic and talented. His statistics are right up there. We look at the statistics, the key ones we look at for players, and then also reports and my own eyes.”

“Also, we look at when we have played against him. He can create and he can score. I am sure he can play a part in this group.

“He is a bargain. It is a decent number for us, but in terms of the division we are in, we are happy.”

There have been plenty of potential suitors monitoring Freeman and the Premier League new boys are clearly impressed to have got the deal over the line as they look to retain their Premier League status.
