Blackpool capture ex-Crystal Palace starlet winger

Earlier today Blackpool’s official club website announced the capture of former Crystal Palace youngster Sullay Kaikai from NAC Breda.

The 23-year-old Londoner, who left Palace in later January this year for the Dutch side and the Eredivisie, has signed on as a Seasider on a two-year deal, with Blackpool holding the option of a further year should they wish to exercise it.

In his six-month spell in Holland, the former Palace winger made just six appearances, before NAC Breda let him go from the club. In total, he made 11 appearances for the Londoners, three of these appearances coming in the Premier League.

The youngster has a number of successful EFL loan moves under his belt, with time out from Crystal Palace at Cambridge United (30 games/six goals/three assists), Shrewsbury (30 games/12 goals/six assists), Brentford (18 games/three goals/one assist), Charlton Athletic (15 games/one assist) and Crawley Town (five games).

Speaking to the club website, both player and manager had something to say about the move. Kaikai said of his arrival at Blackpool: “It’s exciting times with the new owner and you can feel the buzz around the place. It’s really excited times and I’m happy to get it done and start pre-season with the lads.

Meanwhile, on his new capture, Blackpool manager Terry Phillips said: “Sullay is an exciting talent with bags of ability. He adds pace and power to our attack and hopefully plenty of goals and assists.

Blackpool finished last season in 10th place in Sky Bet League One and will obviously be looking to players like Kaikai to help them improve on that position in the coming season.
