Daniel Bentley targeting Premier League promotion with Bristol City

Goalkeeper Daniel Bentley is targeting promotion to the Premier League next season after joining Bristol City.

The Robins have paid a fee of around £2 million to lure the highly-rated stopper to Ashton Gate from fellow Championship Brentford.

Bentley, who has played over 250 games in his career to date, has previously played for Southend United.

He has said, as per a report by Bristol Live: “It’s a really impressive stadium, I’ve played here before but it will be different playing here as a City player. I’ve seen the stadium evolve over the last three seasons and it’s really impressive. I can’t wait to get started and play my first game here.”

“This is a huge club with so much ambition, which matches my ambition as well. I’m sure everyone wants to be a Premier League player and I do as well.”

The 25-year-old added: “I felt coming here I have a great chance of doing that. Watching how well Bristol City did last year from afar, I’m a student of the game and you see who’s up and down in the division, they just missed out by a couple of poor results in the end.”

“It was disappointing for them but I’m here to help next year to help us go that extra mile and get promoted.”

Bristol City have been busy in the transfer market this past week and have also brought in Jay DaSilva on a permanent basis from Chelsea and midfielder Sammie Szmodics from Colchester United.
