Aston Villa to lose star man as Manchester United face “stunning” £50m valuation

Aston Villa gained promotion back to the Premier League after beating Derby County in the Sky Bet Championship Play-Off Final. They now sit readying themselves for a season amongst the big boys of English football.

However, as well as having to deal with building a side able to compete in the top-tier, the Villans will also have to fight off interest from Manchester United in star man John McGinn according to Sun reporter Alan Nixon. However, the magnitude of the bid, a reported £50milion, might take thhat decision out of Villa’s court.

24-year-old McGinn, an industrious central midfielder, only moved to Villa Park in August 2018 from Hibernian with Villa paying £2.8m to acquire his signature. Yet, it was money wisely spent and this was reflected in the output from the combative Scot.

He featured in 40 games for Villa in the Sky Bet Championship, 40 game where he scored six goals and provided 10 assists. He added a further goal in Villa’s successful Championship Play-Off campaign. This kind of output obviously draws much interest, and it seems that Manchester United are interested to the tune of £50million.

That level of interest and money would not be turned down by Villa for McGinn who Nixon says is wanted by the Red Devil’s boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer “to add the midfield dynamism he feelis the side are lacking.”

Should Manchester United come waving the company chequebook and are willing to spend that £50million, then it is difficult to see just how the Villans can resist their advances.
