Leeds United confirm striker loan departure

Leeds United striker Jay-Roy Grot has completed a loan move to Dutch Eredivisie side Vitesse Arnhem, where he will spend the 2019/20 season.

Leeds United confirmed on their club website on Friday afternoon that young striker Jay-Roy Grot has made the move to Dutch outfit Vitesse Arnhem, where he will remain for the rest of the season.

The 21-year-old completed a medical at the Dutch club yesterday after it was decided by the Whites that the Dutchman would head out on loan once again. He spent last season on loan in The Netherlands with VVV-Venlo, where he scored six goals and provided three assists in 33 appearances for the club.

He was utilised across the front three on both the left and right wing as well as in his natural position in the centre.

He heads out on loan hoping to continue his development away from Elland Road after struggling to make an impact since his move in 2017. In his first season, Grot made 22 appearances, scoring one goal and providing one assist. He will be hoping to improve on his 2017/18 total at Leeds and his VVV-Venlo goal haul.

Speaking to the Vitesse Arnhem club website upon the announcement, Grot said he is excited to play for the club where he was born and will give everything to be a hit with the fans.

“It feels great that as a born Arnhemmer I now really play in the shirt of Vitesse,” Grot said.

“It is a boy’s dream for me because my heart is in Arnhem. Vitesse is a large and ambitious club. From the first moment, the feeling is good at Vitesse. It is a step up for me and I am going to give everything to contribute to the success of the club. ”
