Newport County stopper Day signs on at Cardiff City

Joe Day, has left Welsh team Newport County and Joined fellow Welsh team Cardiff City on a free transfer.

Day, joins Cardiff City on a free transfer after he impressed with Newport in the FA cup last season, as they knocked out Middlesbrough and Leicester City in an impressive run only to be stopped by Manchester City.

Day was at Newport County on loan before joining permanently and after he did he stayed for four years. During those four years he played a massive 197 games for the club and during his loan spell he played 14 games.

Before playing for Newport, the 28 year old played for Peterborough, where he only played four games, but was loaned out on a few occasions to Eastbourne Borough, Alfreton Town and obviously Newport County as mentioned earlier.

The shotstopper was a large help in Newport being so successful in the FA cup and helped Newport to a play-off spot, where they beat Masfield Town and claimed a spot in the final at Wembley. Unfortunately they came off second best and lost to a 119th minute winner by Tranmere Rovers’ Connor Jennings.

Overall, I think that this signing will be a good one for the Bluebirds and will be somebody to give competition to Neil Etheridge. The ex Newport shotstopper is a proven goalkeeper who can keep the ball out the back of the net like we saw against Leicester and Middlesbrough.

So, Newport Fans, what are your opinions on letting Joe Day go? Cardiff fans what are your opinions on the signing of goalkeeper Joe Day?
