Sheffield Wednesday, Middlesbrough and Derby County keen on Everton winger

Sheffield Wednesday, Middlesbrough and Derby County are all interested in signing Everton winger Josh Bowler on loan for next season.

The 20-year-old is set to leave the Toffees on loan this summer for more first-team experience, according to a report by TEAMtalk.

The Championship trio have joined Hull City in the race to sign the youngster who impressed for Everton Under-23’s in the last campaign.

The Surrey-born winger started his career with spells as a youngster at Fulham and Aldershot Town before joining QPR in 2013.

Bowler turned professional in March 2017 and made his first and only senior appearance for the Hoops in a Championship fixture against Norwich City on the final day of the 2016/17 season.

He then signed for Everton on a three-year deal in July 2017 for a fee of around £1.25 million. His contract at Goodison Park is set to expire next summer meaning he will be keen to impress the Merseyside club out on loan in the next campaign.

He has never made a first-team appearance for Everton but a loan move to the second tier would be a good opportunity for the youngster.

Middlesbrough are believed to be leading the race to sign him with Jonathan Woodgate eager to bolster his attacking options.

Derby, Sheffield Wednesday and Hull are all other options for Bowler ahead of the upcoming 2019/20 season where all three sides will be looking to impress.
