James Vaughan makes switch to Bradford

Vaughan has left Wigan and joined Bradford on a free transfer, the striker has signed a three year deal.

After being out on loan last season, James Vaughan has left Wigan Athletic and joined Bradford City on a free transfer, as he looks to help the Bantams promotion push in the 2019/20 season.

After signing the contract Vaughan said “A three year deal is a big commitment for the club and myself.” He continued to say “I know i’m joining a big ambitious project – which is only moving forwards. The manager wants me to be a bit of a leader off of the pitch.”

The 30 year old forward played 38 games for Wigan and only scored five goals. Last season he was on loan to Portsmouth, where he played 10 games, during these games he scored zero goals.

Throughout his career, Vaughan has played for big teams such as; Norwich City, Huddersfield Town, Crystal Palace and Leicester City. In all of the games he has played, which is a large 335, he has scored 84 goals.

Bradford look to add Vaughan into their side to consolidate their position in League Two and maybe even look to push on and finish in a play-off spot and slingshot back up into League One.

Overall, the addition of veteran striker, James Vaughan to the Bradford City squad is a great one. The 30 year old has the experience of playing the game and scoring goals. His experience may even be able to help out the younger players in their quest to finding promotion up into League One.
