Bauer departs from the Valley

Bauer, is a 6ft 4in defender who had played for Charlton Athletic over 100 times. During his time with the Red Robins, he scored an impressive nine goals overall. The German played for the under 17s,18s and 20s national teams. Now, at 26, he is a mature centre-back who has played a total of 234 games throughout his career.

Last season was his breakthrough, helping Charlton Athletic to clinch promotion to the Championship through the play-offs. Patrick Bauer was the hero for Charlton at Wembley scoring the winning goal in the closing minuted of a tense game.

Bauer will be a good addition to the Preston North End squad, maybe partnering captain Tom Clarke. Bauer got offered a new contract at Charlton which he had turned down, although he wont leave the club for free as he did still have time left on his contract. Bauer said this when asked about the move “I was four years at Charlton. We had some disappointing moments, but also highs, like the promotion this season.” He continued to say ” I spent a good time there, but it was time for me to start a new chapter in my career”.

Bauer signed for Preston North End for an undisclosed fee. This signing could be a crucial one for Preston North End and helping them to improve their league position next season. Last season they finished in 14th position which they would have been disappointed with.

All that is left to see now is how Bauer performs for Preston North End next season, where he will play his old team aswell!
