Leeds United to miss out on signing League Two starlet to Yorkshire rivals

Huddersfield Town are closing in on the signing of Forest Green Rovers midfielder Reece Brown.

The 23-year-old is on the brink of a move to the Terriers, as per a report by the Examiner Live.

Brown, who is a former England Under-20 international, is out of contract with Forest Green at the end of the month. Leeds United and Bristol City have been linked with him over the past couple of months but it appears their Championship rivals Huddersfield will win the race for him.

The Dudley-born midfielder started his career at Birmingham City and rose through the youth ranks at St Andrews. He went onto play 20 times for the Blues.

Brown had brief loan spells at Notts County and Chesterfield as a youngster to gain some first-team experience.

He was released by Birmingham in 2017 and subsequently joined Forest Green on a free transfer on a two-year contract. He played 42 games in his first season at the New Lawn, scoring three goals.

Brown chipped in with 11 goals in this past campaign and helped Mark Cooper’s side get to the League Two Play-Offs. He hasn’t been short of options this summer but appears to be on his way to Huddersfield.

The Terriers are looking to step up their recruitment following their relegation from the Premier League last season. They snapped up former AFC Bournemouth and Aston Villa defender Tommy Elphick yesterday and look set to sign Brown now.
