Bristol City star man attracting interest from four Premier League sides

The Mirror has claimed that Bristol City centre-back Adam Webster is attracting interest from Premier League quartet Newcastle United, Southampton, Burnley and Watford.

After a strong season in the heart of the Bristol City defence, Adam Webster is attracting interest from a number of top-flight sides. Premier League quartet Newcastle United, Southampton, Burnley and Watford are all reportedly monitoring the situation of the 24-year-old this summer.

Bristol City beat a number of sides to the signature of Webster in the summer transfer window of 2018 and just one year after bringing him to Ashton Gate they look set for a battle to hold on to the 24-year-old. The Robins paid a reported fee of £3.5 million to sign Webster from Ipswich and if they will even consider selling the centre-back this summer, It will have to be a significant fee paid by the buying club, gazumping the fee paid last summer.

Webster formed a strong centre-back partnership with Tomas Kalas – who Lee Johnson is looking to bring back this summer – over the course of last season. He played in 47 games for Bristol City across all competitions, including 44 in the Championship, scoring three goals along the way.

The former Ipswich Town defender was utilised in a back three system by Johnson as well as in a four back formation. Towards the end of the campaign, he was also pushed further up the pitch, playing in a defensive midfield role on occasion (Transfermarkt).

Bristol City have already made a big sale in the summer transfer window, with Lloyd Kelly making a £13 million move to Bournemouth.
