Fulham striker on verge of £22 million move to Real Betis

Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic is on the verge of a move to Real Betis.

The 24-year-old could join the Spanish side for around £22 million, according to a report by the Daily Star.

Mitrovic, who has 49 caps for Serbia, has been linked with a return to the top flight this summer with West Ham United but appears to now be on his way to La Liga.

The 6ft 2inc forward joined Fulham initially on loan from Newcastle United in January 2018 and scored 12 goals in 20 games to help the London side get promoted to the Premier League.

The Cottagers made the deal permanent last summer for an initial fee of around £22 million, which could rise. He bagged 11 goals in all competitions this past campaign but couldn’t prevent his side from slipping back into the Championship.

Mitrovic started his career at Partizan and broke into their first-team as a youngster. He was snapped up by Belgian side Anderlecht in 2013 for €5 million and went onto make 90 appearances for them, scoring 44 goals.

He moved to England to join Newcastle in 2015 for £13 million and played for the North-East side in both the Premier League and the Championship but soon fell down the pecking order.

Mitrovic has got his career back on track at Fulham but will be leaving Craven Cottage this summer for a new chapter. Real Betis will be hoping to get a deal done as soon as possible to ensure another club doesn’t swoop in.
