Derby County confirm exit of youngster and his return to Premier League club

Derby County have confirmed that midfielder Mason Mount has returned to parent club Chelsea with a return looking unlikely according to Chelsea News.

The Rams today posted the below tweet featuring Mount’s highlights of the season and thanking him for his contribution making a return appear to not be likely.

With the transfer embargo currently in place at Chelsea they will be looking to retain more of the players they allowed out on loan last season and it is thought that the 20-year-old will be in and around the Blues first team squad for the 2019/20 campaign.

There has been much speculation surrounding the future of current Derby boss Frank Lampard making a return to the club he played for in a management position and should this happen it is even more likely that he will wish to keep Mount as he knows the full capabilities of the midfielder.

County had a great season before losing out in the Play Off Final to Aston Villa and Mason Mount was a huge part of their success. He scored 11 goals in 44 games in all competitions and was a vital cog in their midfield.

For the moment, the England under 21 international’s future looks to be in limbo until the manager’s position at Chelsea and Derby are both resolved but undoubtedly it would be fantastic for Derby if they were able to entice Mount back to Pride Park as they aim to push for promotion again next season.

The young starlet is one of the hottest prospects this transfer window and Derby will have to act quickly if they are to capture Mount and add to their squad for another long Championship season.
