Leeds United ‘target’ available as Whites offer cut-price bid

In late May, Leeds United were being linked with a number of players after club owner Andrea Radrizzani stated that the Whites would be operating through a summer transfer window that would prove a tad difficult due to FFP constraints.

For long-suffering United fans, a let-down of a transfer window is nothing new – they’ve gotten used to that kind of disappointment. Any announcement of that ilk is met, usually, with a dismissive shrug and a shake of the head.

One player receiving interest from Leeds United, as acknowledged by the Yorkshire Evening Post, was Swiss international striker Michael Frey. 24-year-old Frey is currently on the books at Turkish Super Lig side Fenerbache.

24-year-old Switzerland U-21 international Frey is currently on the books at Turkish Super Lig side Fenerbache, having transferred there only in late August last year. Prior to that he was on the books of FC Zurich having started out his career in Switzerland with Young Boys. His first big move came wit ha £2.7million transfer to Ligue 1 side Lille in September 2014 as a 19-year-old. This season he’s scored five goals (one assist) in 25 games across all competitions. He’s featured most for Young Boys (133 games), scoring 37 goals and adding 20 assists in his time at the club.

However, in news that might make for a more palatable approach for Leeds United fans, Frey is the subject of a cut-rate bid from the Whites. According to website Turks Voetbal, “Leeds United makes [a] 2 million euros bid” for the Swiss striker as they look to continue a trend of finding ‘value’ players.

There’s plenty of transfer window left, plenty of time for such instances as this to ferment. Frey will join a line of players that Leeds United have an ‘interest’ in, players such as Wolves winger Helder Costa and Liverpool youngster Ryan Kent. Only time will tell as to the nature and development of this ‘interest’.
