Leeds to miss out on winger amid Premier League interest

The transfer window is in full swing and already one of the most talked about players is Liverpool’s Harry Wilson.

Last year was a breakthrough season for the 22-year-old Welshman which not only saw him score 18 goals during a loan spell at Derby County, but also cement himself into Ryan Giggs’ new-look national team. Now though, the question on everyone’s lips is: where will he be playing his football next season?

With seemingly every team under the sun being linked with him both in the UK and abroad, it now appears that his future has become a little bit clearer after a Tweet last night from The Sun’s journalist and Football League guru, Alan Nixon.

Leeds looked to be one option for the winger as they sought a loan deal for his services, but they faced stiff opposition from Premier league teams such as Newcastle, Bournemouth, Wolves and newly-promoted Villa.

To add to this there has been reported interest from Spain, Germany and Scotland, the latter being Steven Gerrard’s Rangers.

According to Nixon though, there is only one league we will be seeing Wilson play in next season, and it’s not good news for Leeds United who are intent on bringing in a winger this summer.

The tweet might have ruled out bid from abroad and the Championship, but it hasn’t clarified whether he’s on the move or he’ll be playing for the Champions League winners come August.

One thing’s for sure though, this story isn’t about to be wrapped up any time soon.
