Gillingham have signed former Rangers, Watford and MK Dons full-back

Gillingham have signed former Rangers, Watford and MK Dons full-back Lee Hodson on a two-year deal, confirmed by the club website.

League One side Gillingham have signed former Rangers, Watford and MK Dons full-back Lee Hodson on a two-year deal.

The right-back began his career at Watford and managed to make 51 appearances in three season at fellow League One side MK Dons.

The defender made 17 appearances for Rangers and netted once for the club. He spent last season, on loan at St Mirren and played 20 times.

Lee Hodson is an Northern Ireland international and has made 24 caps for his country.

Lee Hodson told the club website: “I’m looking forward to getting started; it’s a club that has ambitions and I want to be a part of it.

“It’s a nice family club; I’m delighted to be here and I can’t wait to meet the lads and get started.”

Gillingham manager Steve Evans said: “He’s a very, very accomplished stylish attacking player. He has signed as a right-back but has experience at left-back and across the midfield four.

“He’s a player I have wanted to work with for a couple of seasons, I tried to do something at Peterborough last season but it wasn’t to be. I’m delighted he has decided to apply his trade here.”

Earlier this week, Steve Evans brought highly-rated goalkeeper Jack Bonham to the Priestfield Stadium on a two-year deal from Brentford. He spent last season at Bristol Rovers and he made 18 clean sheets in 46 appearances in all competitions.
