Swansea City winger prepares to have medical at Manchester United

Swansea City winger Daniel James is today preparing to have a medical with Manchester United according to Sky Sports News.

The deal for the youngster is for a fee of around £15million and it would be Manchester United’s first signing of this transfer window.

James has attracted interest from a number of clubs but United have always been the favourites to sign him with his impressive performances having made him one of the most in demand players this summer.

The 21 year old has been in training with the Wales squad but was given permission late on Wednesday night to travel to Manchester in preparation for his medical.

The Welshman has had a breakthrough season with Swansea under former manager Graham Potter and is now believed to be ready to step up into the upper echelons of the Premier League.

United could confirm the capture of James as early as today leaving him to free to return to the Welsh squad for their forthcoming European Championship qualifying game against Croatia on Saturday.

As well as the £15million fee it is believed that there will also be a £3million fee in instalments added on which will provide great help to Swansea who are looking to raise up to £30million this summer to ease their financial burdens.

Manchester United have had some real transfer disasters of late and the signing of James would further emphasise Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s willingness to bring in younger and hungrier players rather than older stars who perhaps aren’t as up to the challenge of helping the Red Devils fight for the Premier League title once more.
