Fulham set their sights on transfer Targett

Following a disappointing season for Fulham, they find themselves once again in the Championship. Managerial uncertainty, which plagued Fulham last season, looks to be solved as they look to Scott Parker to return them to the top flight at the first time of asking.

Yet, a familiar face may make all the difference in their promotion push for an instant return to the Premier League.

When Fulham found their way into the Premier league via the play offs one player who had an influential impact was Southampton’s Matt Targett. The England U21 international contributed 18 appearances along with a goal to set Fulham’s sights firmly on the Premier League.

Just one season later and the former loanee could be set to make his return to Craven Cottage. Since his loan spell Matt has failed to make a single appearance for The Saints and the door may well be open for Fulham to swindle and rekindle their old flame

At still just 23 years old, the best may be yet to come from Targett and his Play off final experience may prove vital in the quest for Premier League football.

With the ability not only to play at Left back but also to get forward when required, Fulham will hope that he can find his spark on the field that led previously to glory.

It is now vital that Fulham get their recruitment right and a player with both Championship and promotion experience may be just the move that it is needed to return Fulham to the promised land.
