Former-Brighton and Hull defender latest to be linked to Middlesbrough job

According to The Sun (via Teesside Live), former-Brighton and Hove Albion defender and current Sky Sports pundit Liam Rosenior is the latest name to be linked to the vacant Middlesbrough managerial position.

As well as punditry, Rosenior is also the current assistant coach for the Brighton under-23s side, and could make his first step into management with Middlesbrough.

It is believed Boro chairman Steve Gibson is looking for a young exuberant manager who will play attractive, attacking football, and Rosenior is a candidate that ticks these boxes.

Still only 34-years old, Rosenior could have a good working relationship with the players given his age, and could have a good influence on the youngsters in the squad due to his credentials in helping coach the youth side on the South coast.

As well as Brighton, the former-defender also plied his trade at Hull City, Fulham, Reading and Bristol City. He has a good know-how of the Championship having both played and commented on the division during his playing days and during his time as a pundit with Sky Sports.

Although Rosenior is the newest name to be added to the list linked to the job, former Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic, First Team Coach at Middlesbrough Jonathan Woodgate and Barnsley manager Daniel Stendel remain the top three candidates for the vacant position.

Aston Villa assistant John Terry, former-Brighton manager Chris Hughton and ex-Leicester and Derby boss Nigel Pearson have also all been linked but it is believed that the interest from Boro is far less concrete.
