Leeds United QSI 10% investment decided in mid-May – fresh twist

If anything, any news linked to Leeds United is often devoured by their fans across social media. So when news of any positive nature is received, Whites fans go into hyperdrive.

There’s been plenty of that recently what with news of talks between Leeds United and Qatari Sports Investment (QSI) who are investment representatives of the gas-rich state of Qatar. The big news of that first emerged over a week ago, and it was news that has resurfaced again today.

This is beyond the level of TOMA discussions that Whites fans had when there was talk of someone coming in looking to usurp the maverick reign of Massimo Cellino. That ‘someone’ was current owner Andrea Radrizzani and now fans are wondering whether the same is happening regarding the QSI interest.

There’s no official confirmation of anything from either side in that Leeds United and QSI are both keeping schtum on things. A blanket of silence exists and it is a blanket that also obscures dealings as well. Yet, the chatter is still there and it is chatter that is developing in volume.

The latest comes from Paris-based reporter Abdellah Boulma on his personal Twitter feed (below).

Translated into English, Boulma’s tweet presents a further twist into an already contorted story. In its entirety it reads:

“An agreement had already been reached between QSI and Leeds United for the acquisition of shares (10 %) in the club on May 16, 2019. Agreement (not a purchase) finalized today in Doha by Andrea Radrizzani, owner of the English club, and Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, president of QSI.”

The news that today’s meeting, between Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani and QSI president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, was to finalise an agreement for QSI to take a 10% stake in the Whites will no doubt be something pored over by eager Whites fans.

The fact that this 10% stake was agreed on May 16 only serves to add further fuel to the latest TOMA fire being stoked at Elland Road.
