Aston Villa licked by Lolley asking price – double their valuation

Earlier today, following on from conjecture around 10 days ago, Sun reporter Alan Nixon reported on his personal Twitter account (below) that Nottingham Forest had set their valuation of winger Joe Lolley at an eye-watering £15million.

It was something that here at The72 we wrote about earlier, that Forest were asking what many would see as more than a tidy fee for the former Huddersfield Town player. However, when you look at his output in a stuttering Forest outfit in last season’s Sky Bet Championship, that view does change.

The Redditch-born 26-year-old was an ever-present for Forest in their 46-game campaign in last season’s Sky Bet Championship. His output was startling in a stuttering Forest side, the one-time England C international scoring 11 goals and providing 11 assists.

That sort of return comes at a premium, and The Sun’s Nixon says (above) that Forest’s take on his value is a cool £15million. That level of fee will not be enough to deter Villa should they be determined to land their man, Premier League money should easily see to that.

That may as be, but it is still a fee that, in answering a tagged tweet, Nixon hints is a potential stumbling block for any deal going forward.

As Nixon points out, Forest’s valuation is double what Villa see Lolley’s worth as being. For them, and it was reputed they’d made an approach in January, Joe Lolley is valued in and around the £7m/£7.5m bracket.

With the valuations of both sides so distant, this is one transfer tribulation that could drag on for a while whilst particulars are hammered out.
