Sheffield United among host of sides keen on Brentford winger

Brentford winger Ollie Watkins is once again attracting Premier League interest, and Sky Sports News has reported that newly promoted Sheffield United are one of the sides interested in the 23-year-old.

Sheffield United are keen on Brentford winger Ollie Watkins, Sky Sports News has claimed.

After another strong season for Watkins at Griffin Park with Brentford, it seems that the Bees will have to do their best to fend off transfer interest in the winger once again.

Premier League side Southampton have been credited with “long-term” interest in the former Exeter City winger, with fellow top-flight side Crystal Palace reportedly keen too, as they look into the market for Wilfred Zaha replacements, should he leave Selhurst Park this summer.

Wilder is keen to strengthen his Sheffield United side ahead of their first campaign back in the Premier League in 12 years. Blades have also been linked with a move for Brentford hotshot Neal Maupay, along with fellow promoted side Aston Villa.

Watkins has been one of many youngsters to join Brentford and go on to prove themselves at Championship level. He joined from Exeter City in 2017 after netting 26 goals in 78 games for the club. In his time with Brentford, Watkins has played 93 games, scoring 23 goals and providing 14 assists along the way.

He helped Thomas Frank’s side to another top half finish in the 2018/19 Championship season, scoring 10 goals and providing eight assists and the Bees achieved an 11th place finish.

Brentford will be hoping to keep Watkins this summer and will be hoping that they can fend off Premier League interest once again by slapping a hefty price tag on the 23-year-old’s head.
