Crawley Town sign former 99-goal hotshot striker

When he was powering in the goals in non-league football, striker Ashley Nadesan was a wanted man. The reason for that? He had hit an astonishing 99 goals in his first two seasons of senior football.

He had been brought through the youth ranks of Horley Town by manager Anthony Jupp, eventually being promoted to the senior set-up at the club. In his first season as a senior player he hit 44 goals.

This was bettered the following season with 55 goals, agonisingly failing to make it a rounded-out 100 goals in senior football by just one strike.

On the back of this scintillating two-season haul, Nadesan signed for League One side Fleetwood Town. He didn’t hit the same heights with the Cod Army as he did at Horley Town. In his time at the north west club, Nadesan featured just 24 times for Joey Barton’s side, scoring once and adding three assists.

However, he was more successful when dropping down a league to League Two on two separate loan deals. He featured for Carlisle 43 times, scoring 12 goals and adding eight assists. This has seen Crawley Town step in to sign him on a three-year deal.

Speaking to the club website, Cralwey Town Head Coach Gabriele Cioffi said of Nadesan’s capture: “I’m delighted to have Ashley with us. He’s a local lad who has had two good years at Fleetwood and Carlisle and now he’s decided to come home, which is great for us. He can play in wide positions or up front and he is a goal threat.”

He went on to add: “I think he can play a major part for us next season and beyond and I am really looking forward to working with Ashley. I am pleased he is now part of the Crawley Town family.
