QPR boss Mark Warburton targeting move for Livingston goalkeeper

QPR are targeting a move for Livingston goalkeeper Liam Kelly.

The new Hoops’ boss Mark Warburton is in the hunt for a new ‘keeper this season, as per a report by the Daily Record.

Warburton knows Kelly well from his time as manager of Rangers and could reunite with him at Loftus Road.

Kelly joined Livingston on a permanent deal last summer from Rangers and impressed for them in the Scottish Premiership this past season. He has reportedly got a release clause of just £50,000, meaning the Lions will face an almighty battle in holding onto him this summer.

The former Scotland Under-21 international was born in Glasgow and started his career with Rangers. He rose through the youth ranks at Ibrox but never made a senior appearance for them.

Instead, Kelly gained first-team experience on loan at East Fife in 2016 before spending last season with Livingston. He helped Livi gain promotion from the Scottish Championship and earned himself a permanent move to the Almondvale Stadium.

He still has a year left on his contract at Livingston but has been linked with the likes of Celtic, Ipswich Town and Barnsley over recent months. It now appears like QPR have emerged as a frontrunner for him based on Warburton already knowing him.

It is a big summer ahead for the London side as they look to perform better in the Championship in the next campaign. Warburton is a shrewd appointment by them and their fans will be looking forward to seeing who he signs.
