Swansea manager target reveals he has had talks with the club

Swansea City have been looking for a manager ever since Graham Potter surprisingly left to become the new Brighton and Hove Albion manager.

The Chairman, Trevor Birch and club legend Leon Britton have been assessing different managerial candidates in the last week, ranging from experienced to first time coaches. Britton has already announced that they would like to get a manager who fits the style of play that Swansea usually insist on playing.

According to the BBC Alan Tate has thrown his hat into the ring for the Swansea City job. The club legend is currently coaching the under-18s side and has never hidden his ambitions of one day managing the club he represented with such distinction over the course of two decades.

And Tate has let the powers-that-be know that he is there if they want him after receiving backing from one of the biggest legends in the game – Sir Alex Ferguson.

I have spoken to the new chairman about different things. The club know where I am,” Tate told the BBC .

The chairman is a football guy and an intelligent guy. He is getting the best people in the best places he feels to help the club go forward.

Tate, who is in the process of completing his pro licence course, has been keeping in touching with mentor Sir Alex Ferguson, under whom he progressed through the ranks at Manchester United before he joined Swansea, initially on loan.

Tranmere Rovers manager, Micky Mellon is currently the favourite for the job but that would seem like a strange move as his teams usually play with a direct approach.

Under 23’s manager Cameron Toshack is a favourite amongst the Swans fans as he led his team to Premier League 2 Title.

It  will be interesting to see who they appoint but considering the style Potter brought to the Liberty stadium, we are expecting someone to come in and not change too much. Previously, they went for former player Roberto Martinez and gave him his first job in the business and that worked wonders as he won the League One title in his first season.

Will Swansea take this approach with Alan Tate? Let us know your thoughts and whether you think he would be a good appointment.
