According to Sky Sports News, Championship side Brentford have reached an agreement with Serie A outfit Fiorentina to sign midfielder Christian Norgaard in a deal worth £2.8 million.
Fiorentina midfielder Christian Norgaard will be joining Championship side Brentford for a fee of £2.8 million, Sky Sports News has reported.
Norgaard has worked with Bees boss Thomas Frank previously when the Dane was in charge of Danish club Brondby. Now, the two will be reunited at Griffin Park, with a deal on the brink of completion.
He only made the move to the Italian Serie A to join Fiorentina in the summer transfer window of 2018, but after playing just six times for the club in the league, Norgaard is set to make a move away to play in the Championship.
Norgaard will come into Thomas Frank’s side to provide another option in the central midfield position.
The 25-year-old started his career in the youth academy with Lyngby, before going on to make his professional debut for the club in 2011 at the age of 17. One year later, he moved to Germany to join Hamburg but failed to make a first-team appearance for the club, playing 22 times for the club’s B team.
After a year in Germany with Hamburg, Norgaard made the move to Brondby to link up with Thomas Frank, and he went on to enjoy a successful five years with the club. The midfielder played 147 times for the club over the course of five seasons, netting 12 goals and providing eight assists.
Norgaard will now be looking to return to his best under Thomas Frank and prove himself in the Championship after a difficult time in Italy.
