Carlisle United boss expresses interest in summer deal for Sheffield United man

Carlisle United manager Steven Pressley has said that he is keen to bring Sheffield United player Nathan Thomas back to the club this summer, after his loan deal with the club expired upon the end of the season.

Speaking to the News and Star, Carlisle United manager Steven Pressley has expressed an interest in bringing winger Nathan Thomas back to the club this summer.

The Sheffield United man has been placed on the transfer list at Bramall Lane and is highly likely to leave the club this summer after the Blades’ promotion to the Premier League.

Nathan is one we are keeping close tabs on just now.”

“He is one that we would like to bring back but it would either be a situation where he comes to some form of agreement with his club, or we’d have to consider the loan option again.”

“These are two options we’d certainly consider. But he is certainly a high priority for us.”

Thomas has struggled to make an impact since joining Sheffield United in the summer of 2017 from Hartlepool United, spending most of his time on loan away from the club.  Now, with Blades confirming their return to the Premier League after a 12-year absence, he could be set for a permanent move away from the club in the upcoming transfer window.

During his time with Carlisle United, Thomas played 41 times in League Two, helping himself to five goals and providing three assists along the way. Pressley will be hoping that he can return to the club this summer and add to his total from the 2018/19 season.
