Fernando Forestieri to Leeds, a transfer waiting to happen?

Since the departure of Samu Saiz on loan to Getafe earlier in the season and the seemingly imminent move back to La Liga, Leeds have at times struggled to find real creativity in the attacking third.

Saiz has been said to have been homesick and looking to seek a permanent move away from Elland Road in the summer.
One man who could look to fill that gap is  Rosario native Fernando Forestieri, currently at Sheffield Wednesday.
The Argentine has been looking to replicate his form from previous seasons with just half of the 12 goals from the previous campaign and an assist to show for the 18/19 season.

Forestieri, in March, took to Instagram posting an almost fan like photo beside Leeds head coach Marcelo Bielsa (also a Rosario native) with both having links to Newell’s Old Boys.

What can be expected from Forestieri? A 35 yard cannon to the top corner in April against Norwich City shows that it’s evident he’s not afraid to take a shot on, no matter the angle or distance, with the potential to be clinical from there also.

Forestieri was linked to Leeds United in recent years under the Massimo Cellino regime, therefore the club will be more than familiar with the abilities he possesses.

It is clear that with similar roots and a creative flair that at times this season Leeds have desperately missed in order to break down defences, that this could be a match waiting to happen.
Just one year remains on Forestieri’s contract and it may become clear over the summer months where his future lies should Bielsa be looking to pursue his compatriot.
